Photo Contest

It's never easy to just shoot and capture a special moment, especially in a photo contest. You have to really think of a good concept and conceptualize everything.

Just recently, I joined a photo contest at Iligan for their Kasadya Festivities. I luckily won 1st Place for the Civic Parade Category

and 3rd Place for the Kasadya Category.

I was disqualified for the over-all prize for I was only able to join 2 of 5 of the categories.

Now, Iligan, my hometown, has another photo contest and this time it’s all about the little one’s ages 3 to 10. I’ve been pondering hard for weeks and I still don’t have the picture I really like. It’s hard for me since I tend to be so meticulous in choosing. My greatest adversary is myself. Sometimes it plays to my advantage but now, it tends to give me more headache than ever!

I, Jiva Jimenez, thank you for taking the time to read and be part of my world. Till then! "_)

1on1 Photography Workshop with Melch Maquiso

Last November 26 and 29, I had a one on one workshop with Mr. Melch Maquiso of Gingoog City. We had a Basic to Advance Workshop with Emphasis on Studio Light Setup.

On the first day (Nov.26th), we discussed about the basics in photography, use of digital camera settings and its features, the basics of exposure (the exposure triangle), and had an indoor and outdoor fashion photoshoot with Ms. Lovelle and Alyssa. It was a tiring and draining day, but we totally had fun!

On the second day (Nov.29th), we reviewed what happened on the first day and critiqued his exposure assignment. After lunch, we discussed about Product Photography and shot some products. We even took time to shot our snack before actually eating it "_) Then the most dreaded part was the tutorial on photo enhancement using Photoshop.

My workshop wouldn't be successful without the people behind the scene. First, I'd like to thank Melch, for giving me the opportunity to share my passion in photography and for the untiring humor and laughter all throughout the 2days of the workshop. Second, to the models: Lovelle and Alyssa for gracing us with their time and talent. To the makeup artist, Brent, bravo on the all out support not only to us but to the models. Kuya Pol, for always being there supporting us and most especially to my wife, Julie, all this wouldn't have meaning without you.

I, Jiva Jimenez, thank you for taking the time to visit and read my post. Till then! "_)
